I first met Nerys in one of our favourite cafes in Caerphilly, the Deli where she shared her dreams of her wedding day over a coffee and a yummy cake. Nerys & Dai are strong members of St Martin’s Church, Caerphilly and Nerys is involved in it’s community development activities, helping to run the children’s groups, messy play and she gives her time freely and graciously to make the church the amazing community it is. Needless to say that on her wedding day there would be a lot of local volunteers and church members wanting to see her in her dress so in true Nerys style she decided to take the last slot of the day for the ceremony so they could welcome anyone that wanted to go and have a mini reception afterwards at the church itself. It was magical and the sense of community was just superb.
The evening reception was in Ridgeway Golf Club. Nerys & Dai told me they were going to have a hog roast and treat it just like a party, so no first dance or formal cutting of the cake. However Ridgeway weren’t having any of this and the wedding organiser made sure they had a first dance… which was hilariously the Hoki Coki! He got all the guests in a circle and announced the first dance. There I was in the middle shooting away, hoping that no one would fall on me ha ha. It was really fun and that was just a small part of what he organised.. I don’t think Ed was too impressed being made to be part of the Village People and do the YMCA ha ha!
This wedding was so special and full of love. It was really lovely for me too as being a local girl there were a few guests who I knew that I haven’t seen for decades! Such a lovely opportunity to catch up and thank you so much Ruth for the recommendation and to Nerys & Dai for choosing me to capture your wonderful day.
Here are some of my highlights:
