Aw Sarah & Nick are soo lush together. Documenting their wedding was a complete honour and it was so lovely to meet and chat to their nearest and dearest, especially Sarah's dad who almost stole the show for me. This wedding was all about celebrating with their family and friends and having the best party ever in the heart of Cardiff in the Park Plaza Hotel.
I rocked up in time to capture Sarah getting ready, bridal prep being one of my favourite parts of the whole day. The dress... omg, what a dress. I had immediate envy and wished it was mine lol. Sarah wore it beautifully, she looked stunning. I couldn't take my eyes off her and seeing the reaction of her best friend Aly and her sister Rebecca was priceless.
The ceremony was beautiful. Sarah was beaming all the way through and Nick was clearly overwhelmed and full of emotion. There were a few sneaky tears though I'm not sure anyone other than myself and the registrar would have noticed. Griff their 1 year old son looked so gorgeous in his little suit and those big blue eyes and there were plenty of willing family and friends to keep him entertained.
Thanks to Ian, the best man who gathered everyone outside for me whilst I legged it to the second floor of the car park across the road to take a picture of all the guests. I almost got run over a few times that day lol.
One of the best moments was when I took Sarah & Nick off for couple photos. We had 15 minutes before the afternoon tea reception was being served, which really isn't enough time so Sarah put on her sparkly trainers and we stretched it to 35 minutes (apologies to everyone that was waiting for food - but was totally worth it!). We walked behind the hotel to an area with trees and then under the subway up to Cardiff Museum, where wedding photos are a must if getting married in the city centre. Sarah sent me an email a few days later which said, "thanks so much for taking me and Nick out, I'll never forget total strangers wishing us congratulations, it was so special." It's amazing how people smile at you when you are with a bride and groom and not one weird look as I'm lying on the floor at the end of the subway whilst shooting a silhouette of Sarah & Nick!
We managed to get back in time for afternoon tea.. it looked lovely. I was only employed to work until 3.30pm but stayed a bit longer just to make sure I captured everything and told their story the best I could for the limited time. I left the party in full swing with the Park Plaza's LED changeable pink, blue and purple lights and a home made Photo Booth full of 1980's pop stars..
Congratulations Sarah & Nick, you are a lovely couple and I really enjoyed being part of your special day. Here are some images that reflect my favourite moments during your wedding day xx
