Pershore Confetti Fields

My best friend and I love flowers. We've been talking abut visiting flower fields and going to flower shows for years but never gotten around to it. It seems that having children who are about to start school in September has given us a kick to start doing all these long awaited day trips and make the most of the time we have left.

So the confetti fields in Wick, just outside of Pershore seemed like the place to go and it didn't disappoint. Admittedly I thought the fields would be much larger and replicate the flower fields I once visited in Hokkaido Japan, but for 2 fourty somethings and 2 kids under 5 there was enough to do, playing hide and seek amongst the flowers, climbing on hay bales, playing on the tractor, eating ice-cream and of course taking some photos.

As a photographer the conditions were dreadful.. we happened to meet at 11.30am so had the challenge of bright hot midday sun, there was absolutely no shade and my boy had a straw hat with holes in causing sun speckles all over his face. Shutter speed up really high to shoot at F2:8 and I couldn't even see through the view finder for most of it. So when I got home and downloaded these I couldn't be happier. Virtually no editing either - just a little playing with tones and shadows / highlights in Lightroom.

Bethan & Ian's wedding at The Vale Resort

As soon as I met Bethan and Ian I could see that their wedding was going to be all about sharing it with family and friends. I also picked up quite soon their passion for rugby so it was no surprise on the day that the wedding was rugby themed, from red bridesmaid dresses and stunning red roses in the bouquet representing Bethan's passion for welsh rugby and table names showing various clubs. The whole wedding reflected them as individuals and as a couple perfectly and they are so meant to be together.

I met them at the most beautiful church called  St Dochdwys, which was Bethan's family church. I was made so welcome by the father who was actually retired but made a special appearance to marry the daughter of his close friends. Many priests can be difficult to work with and mostly seem to dislike having photographers present but he was truly amazing and was an absolute pleasure to work with. This personal touch was beautiful and I know it meant the world to both Bethan and Ian, and even made me shed a few tears in parts.

The reception was at the lovely Vale of Glamorgan hotel and the staff looked after the guests and me very well. The highlight for me was seeing Bethan and Ian's parents engage with the Photo Booth by In House Entertainment. They were so much fun. I actually felt like a guest because the atmosphere was so warm and intimate. The Vale's resident DJ got everyone doing the YMCA on the dance floor and after that it was non stop action all night.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Coupe, I thoroughly enjoyed your wedding and thank you for choosing me to be your photographer. Here are some of my favourites.

Thank you 2017

Wow! What a year, I just re-read my end of year blog from 2016 and am pleased to say that I've achieved what I set out to do. The newborn side of the business is blooming and I had the pleasure of covering some beautiful weddings with lots of gorgeous happy people. It's also been quite incredible to watch my now almost 3 year old develop into a cheeky happy boy with a fuel for life. I can't believe that when I write this next year he will have started part time school!

I attended some brilliant training earlier this year by the famous Russ Jackson for newborn portraits and by the lovely and talented Dan Morris for wedding photography. Both have helped me develop in so many ways and with lots of opportunity to shoot and keep developing I am now in my happy photography place.

We also had a small extension at the back of the house so that our sitting room could be converted into a home studio. It's perfectly sized for newborns, sitter sessions and first birthdays. Having the space has made a HUGE difference to us as a family and my business. I now spend less time getting ready for shoots as it's all in one place and I don't need to travel to people's homes anymore and take hundreds of items with me. The room was ready in October and it's been non stop action. Im looking forward to making some changes in the new year to make it lovelier and more accessible for you. There is still work to be done outside the house, which is on the agenda for 2018. This will enable me eventually to have a small space outside for shooting and will make the entrance to the sitting room easier for you.

Again none of this would have been possible without your your support, continued business, recommendations to friends, likes on my instagram and Facebook posts and your openness to inviting me into your lives for a brief period to capture you as an individual, as a parent, as a family, as a wife, a husband, as a child. It has always been and remains to be a privilege that I have the utmost respect for

Here are a few of my highlights. Thank you so much for a wonderful 2017. Here's raising a glass to wish all of you a healthy, happy and prosperous 2018 xxx

(if you aren't featured in the gallery its only because your images are on a different disk drive and not as accessible to me, not because I don't love you as much :-) )
