Michelle & Shaun's September Summer wedding at The Great House
I’ve known Michelle for years as we used to work together way back when I was a community development worker. We hadn’t spoken for a long time before she asked me to be her wedding photographer but I’d been following her journey online for over a year in admiration and in awe because she is one of the strongest most amazing woman I know. Michelle is a breast cancer survivor. She won’t mind me mentioning this and would encourage it because she passionately believes that awareness is power and maybe someone else can catch it early enough. So you can imagine my delight for the 2 of them when I found out they were engaged and I was literally jumping when they asked me to be involved. Thankyou both.
When we met to discuss their needs in a cafe in Caerphilly we soon found out that we had food in common, in Michelle’s words ‘we are foodies, so we’ve chosen our venue because the food is really good’. It was! The Great House in Laleston, Bridgend served them an gentleman’s afternoon tea and it looked amazing. I was lucky to be served a vegetarian option and I can definitely say that it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Not only was the food amazing, but combined with faultless smiling staff, a gorgeous old house and the hottest day September delivered. It was a pretty awesome day.
Michelle looked stunning in a custom made pink lace 1950’s style dress. The blush pink set the tone for the wedding and complimented Shaun’s suit perfectly. What I loved best of all though were Shaun’s Kermit the Frog socks and Michelle’s knickers (sorry I can’t say any more, you’ll have to ask her ;-). No bridesmaids because this wasn’t a traditional wedding.. instead all 4 of their boys had a role to play. My highlight being Gethin singing beautifully as his mum walked down the aisle with his brother, Carwyn accompanying her. Euan was in charge of the rings and Liam was a witness… the perfect example of 2 families coming together and becoming one. Also Michelle’s friend made the cake (I wish I had those skills) and her dad had been growing cactus in preparation for the table decorations. There’s something really special about a wedding that has friends and family involved at this level, so personal and exactly what the couple wanted. and it was perfect.
Look out for Michelle and Shaun on ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ to be aired sometime next year!! So exciting having the film crew there and it was fun working alongside them.
Congratulations both, you are totally meant to be.. the chemistry and bond between you blew my mind. here’s wishing you a lifetime of happiness, good health, great food and fun xx
